So, I’m a little late for this one. Well, not really since I said I wasn’t going to update this shizz for another two weeks. But man, this little diddy is totally boss. I couldn’t pass up the chance to get all you homeskillets to watch this movie. Yes, I will constantly be using "Dialingo" throughout this review, and it will get annoying. Beware.
The Story Yo yo yiggidy yo, Juno is a sixteen year old girl who gets knocked up by Paulie Bleeker and eventually his little man-worm hatches into a hot steamy roll which gets cookin’ in little Juno’s oven. So, she faces the dilemma of whether she wants to keep or abort the sea-monkey, and inevitably chooses to keep it. (Or else the movie would be pretty short). Juno then decides that she wants to put it up for adoption, and the rest of the movie describes her life as she has to make this difficult decision. Except, Juno is crass and sarcastic, and her life is filled with crazy characters. So, it’s funny. The story is rather simple, but this bacon-train is more of a comedy than anything, so it doesn’t need to be a complex heap of mainstream. The writing is amazing and hiliarious. Diablo Cody, the chick who’s shockingly cavalier about being an ex-stripper, is a goddess at tantalizing fast-paced wit. This is her first ever screenplay and she won an Oscar for it. Now that’s talent. It’s awesome to see such a funny movie made by somebody other than Adam McKay, or Judd Apatow. The Acting The actizzle is fantastic. Ellen Page is a ripe melon of excellence, and I am totally in love with her. By the by, she’s actually 21 in real life, so it’s not weird. She’s been in a few underground movies in the past, but this is definitely her breakthrough Oscar-nominated role. She’s even in an upcoming movie with Dennis Quaid and Sarah Jessica Parker. My little Canadian-Maritime love angel is growing up. *sniff*. Michael Cera is very Michael Cera-y. I find he acts the exact same in everything he does, and he was pretty much type-casted for this role. But you know, he’s awkwardly funny, so it’s fine. J. Jonah Jam-I mean- J. K. Simmons is outstanding as Juno’s father. I always enjoy the work he puts forth. The Good Ellen Page + Diablo Cody = Cumstain. The Bad Nothing, frig. This movie is forshizz up the spout. Gradimonji 100% - Juno comes out on DVD April 15th, 2008. I’m also going to be less formal with my reviews from here on out, like I was with this one. It’s more fun for me to jump and jive rather than to slow-dance. Posted on 17 Apr 2008 by Ichimonji
